Smartphone, Tablet & Co — Growing up Healthy in the Digital World
Target Group:
Staff members from formal and non-formal sectors who work with children aged 0 to 12 years — including crèches, Maison Relais, and staff from Cycle 1–4.
Description:
Where does the fascination for digital media come from?
What opportunities and risks arise for the development of children?
The focus of this further training is to examine the general use of media. The aim is to accompany and strengthen children in today’s media world so that they can grow up healthy and self-determined. Two questions are particularly important: What are the precursor skills for media literacy? And how can these precursor skills be promoted? In real life, many concrete experiences have a preventive effect on addiction for young and primary school children. We address what these experiences are in this further training.
Goals:

- Understanding of the precursor skills
- Distinguishing between media competence and media literacy
- Factors influencing the development of excessive use of media
Skills
- Methods for promoting precursor skills (especially in early childhood)
- Impulses for practice (media in everyday pedagogical life, working with parents)
- Structural measures for media use
Attitude
- Reflection on own media use
