Basic Qualification in Wilderness Education and Addiction Prevention

Target Group:

Educational Staff

Description:

Wilderness education is an ideal tool to expand social and preventive work and to explore the healing (and free!) resource of nature in a mindful way. The power of community in wilderness camps, which together manage life outdoors, promotes self-esteem, belief in self-efficacy, conflict resolution skills, strengthens resilience and provides security.

On the basis of wilderness education, the participants are enabled to adapt the content to their respective field of work with children, adolescents or families. Be it in a wilderness camp or in an ongoing group work over the year or individual days outside in the forest.

A major component of the training will be the connection of wilderness education with social pedagogical and (addiction-) preventive work: an exciting substance-free experience space, as neither alcohol nor drugs are accepted here and a media-free space is offered per se.

Goals:

  • Learn to know and apply content and methods from addiction prevention and wilderness education
  • Be able to move safely with groups in the forest
  • Reflect the application for your own work area
  • Experience yourself as part of nature
